I live in Amsterdam center in an unsustainable neighborhood full of unsorted waste every morning. I have an old boiler that consumes a lot of gas but the landlord doesn't want to change the heating system.
I work as a postdoc researcher at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture, part of the research group High Density Energy Landscapes, coordinating a research project in partnership with the Municipality of Amsterdam. The research project is exploring the spatial dimension of the energy transition in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Region.

I value the herbs growing in between the bricks and the urban fauna :) love them!
I settled here for research reasons. I knew about the low renewable energy share in Amsterdam, is part of my research to contribute to the advancement of the energy transition, but I surprised myself for how waste is treated, because sorting is not mandatory for citizens, as in many other big cities in Europe.
